Strictly's Tyler and Diane hit with backlash from fans despite near-perfect score

Strictly Come Dancing fans hit out at the show's judges after Tyler West landed the first 10 scores of 2022.

Tyler and dance partner Dianne Buswell blew the audience away with their Charleston to Flash, Bang, Wallop! but many viewers said the high scores were "too soon".

The Kiss radio presenter soared to the top of the leaderboard after his Saturday night performance as part of Movie Week.

They bagged two 10s, but many viewers felt it was too early in the competition.

One wrote: "9’s and 10’s in week 3 of #Strictly? Games gone," while another added: "#Strictly feels really early to be dishing out 10's."

A third wrote: "Tyler was incredible, I mean the Charleston is one of my favourite dances, and he definitely did it justice, giving it all the energy it needs. But, I think it’s too early for a 10, so it’s a 9 from me."

"You cannot take a 10 in week 3 seriously," another chimed.

However, not everyone agreed with the backlash.

"Tyler deserves those 10’s!!! That was a fantastic dance, it was easily worth a 10. Excellent work."

Another added: "The first 10 of the series and Tyler and Dianne got 2 of them! I couldn’t be prouder of them right now! I feel quite emotional."

Tyler and Diane got a "fab-u-lous" from Craig Revel-Horwood, while Motsi Mabuse called their performance "amazing" and "perfect".

Shirley Ballas beamed: “He’s still the real deal. Absolutely a brilliant performance on every single level, you were fantastic.”

Tyler was given 10s from Motsi and Shirley, and 9s from Craig and Anton Du Beke, leaving him with a score of 38.

Unbelievably, Tyler hasn't just been putting in the work on the dance floor, he's also been pounding the pavements as he trained for the London Marathon.

The DJ ran 26.2 miles the morning after last week's Strictly, with a time of 5 hours and 25 minutes.

As well as Tyler proving his well-earned space in the competition, Molly Rainford wasn't far behind with a score of 34.

She and her partner Carlos Gu performed a Waltz from a West Side Story track.

Shortly behind was Kym Marsh and Will Mellor, who both scooped a score of 33.

Kym and partner Graziano Di Prima also rocked a Charleston set to If My Friends Could See Me Now from Sweet Charity.
