Strictly's Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden return to training after missing show due to Covid

Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden are back in training for Strictly Come Dancing.

The McFly singer and his professional dance partner are set to return to the dancefloor on Saturday night for Movie Week, after they were forced to miss last weekend's show because they tested positive for Covid.

The dancing duo will return to the programme with a Back To The Future themed jive and they have got straight back into training. They were spotted heading to a dance studio for rehearsals on Wednesday.

Tom and Amy also took to their Instagram stories to document their return to training, with the singer looking exhausted as he laid on the floor following a tough afternoon.

In one story, he quipped, "We started at 6am," which was quickly denied by Amy.

She added: "No we didn't! Tomorrow we are!"

Tom looked less than impressed with the idea of the early start and rolled over on the floor to hide his face from the cameras.

The pair were forced to miss last week's show after testing positive for coronavirus, with the BBC hoping the pair would be back for week three.

The BBC confirmed in a statement at the time: "Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden have tested positive for Covid-19. The pair are now self-isolating separately following the latest government guidelines.

"While they will both miss Saturday’s live show, Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week."

Amy later took to her Instagram account and vowed she would be spending her time in isolation wisely - by coming up with lots of new choreography ideas for her and Tom.

"Unfortunately, [Tom] and I have tested positive for Covid-19," she wrote.

"I’m not suffering any symptoms but am now isolating at home. I have no doubt that over the next 10 days my mind will be going crazy with choreography ideas ready to get back on the strictly dance floor for the live show in week 3!

"Thank you for all of the support and good luck to all of the couples this week. I will be cheering you all on!"

And Tom has promised to come back with a bang in week three, where him and Amy will dance to Chuck Berry's Johnny B Goode.

"Rest up partner. We've got to pull something special out of the bag for week 3," he told Amy as they isolated separately.

Tom had also been finding it difficult in isolation as he had to be away from his wife Giovanni Fletcher and their children - Buzz, seven, Buddy, five, and Max, three - as he recovered from Covid.

"I’ll be cheering everyone on. I desperately, desperately, wish I was there dancing. I know Amy will be doing the same and it will be incredibly frustrating," he said over the weekend.

"But what’s even more frustrating is not being able to see my kids."
