Strictly's Tilly Ramsay plans for 'smiling' on Saturday after calling out 'chubby' label

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Tilly Ramsay has revealed she will be “smiling” on Saturday night’s show.

The television chef and daughter of Gordon Ramsay will be dancing with professional dance partner Nikita Kuzmin.

The pair won praise on last weekend’s show for their moody paso doble, which It Takes Two presenter Janette Manrara told the pair was their “best dance yet”.

Tilly revealed she was amazed she kept a “straight face” and called Nikita the “best teacher”.

Janette revealed that her “heart broke” when she saw a video online of Tilly saying “Can I smile now?” as she tried to stay in character.

However, a pleased Janette revealed that Tilly would be “smiling again” as she gets to dance the foxtrot with Nikita.

Tilly admitted it was a difficult week as she had lots of “technical bits” to learn but Nikita said they would be showing “quality” as it is Week Five.

The happy character of the foxtrot in her performance will come after LBC radio host Steve Allen called her “chubby”.

Allen had said on Wednesday: " Well, she can't blimming well dance, I'm bored with her already.

"She's a chubby little thing, isn't she? Have you noticed? Probably her dad's cooking, I should imagine."

In response, Tilly penned on social media: "I try not to read and listen to comments and negativity however recently being called out on a national radio station by a 67-year-old man is a step too far.

"Steve please feel free voice your opinions however I draw the line at commenting on my appearance. It's such a shame that someone is trying to make such a positive experience negative.

"This isn't the first and definitely won't be the last comment made about my appearance and I accept that and I'm learning to accept myself.

Tilly added: “But please remember that words can hurt and at the end of the day I am only 19 and I'm so grateful for all the amazing opportunities I have been able to take part in and I understand that being in the public eye obviously comes with it's own repercussions and I've been aware of this from a young age.

"However I won't tolerate people that think its okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone's weight and appearance. Love Tilly xx"

She also captioned the post: “#BeKind”.

*Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One while Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two continues on weekdays at 6.30pm.
