Strictly's Stacey Dooley's savage jibe ruins romantic moment with Kevin Clifton

Stacey Dooley turned a romantic moment with her partner Kevin Clifton into a damp squib after recalling a past mishap.

The 33-year-old TV documentary maker may have thought she was in safe hands with her professional dancer boyfriend Kevin, 37, when he looked to sweep her off her feet.

Since meeting on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, where the pair danced their way to the Glitterball Trophy, they have become partners in love.

Stacey might find it unsurprising to have Kevin pick her up for a romantic hold.

This did not stop her crying out on Thursday evening when he did just that, fearing that he might drop her to the floor.

The hilarious encounter was shared on Twitter by Kevin, who has left Strictly to concentrate on his burgeoning West End career.

The dancer shared with his followers that he "just lovingly picked up Stacey."

He then revealed that instead of a declaration of love, her response was: "Put me down you’re gonna drop me!"

Kevin wrote that he responded by reassuring her: "No I’m not."

Stacey hit home hard though when she recalled a moment from their Strictly journey. She savagely replied: "Well you did in the Lindy Hop."

Fans of the couple replied to the post with laughing emojis, with one adding: "Some people never forget do they..."

This was a sentiment that was echoed by one of Kevin's former Strictly dance cohorts, Neil Jones.

He made the point that this is something that stays with the celebrities, if they slip through the hands of the professionals.

Neil shared Kevin's tweet and commented: "We drop a partner once and they never let you forget it."
