Strictly's Shirley Ballas gives update on 'lump' scare on GMB

Shirley Ballas has given a fresh update after viewers spotted a 'lump' under her arm.

The Strictly Come Dancing head judge sought medical advice last month after noticing messages from concerned fans.

Those watching the BBC One competition thought they had seen a lump under Shirley's arm when she was on TV demonstrating a Paso Doble move.

The Queen of Latin, 61, has since kept fans updated after she visited the doctors and has been undergoing tests.

In her last update while speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Shirley revealed that doctors have flagged their concern about her high hormone levels,

"She said I have the highest testosterone levels she’s ever seen in a woman, and testosterone can wreak havoc on the female organs.

"So she’s requested an urgent scan of all of my organs at King’s College, London."

On Wednesday, Shirley appeared on Good Morning Britain to chat about the current series of Strictly and her book.

But she was also asked about her health in which she said she is heading to the hospital on Friday.

"One or two people got in touch and I kind of ignored it," she said of being messaged by viewers. "Then there was about 11 people and I thought I best go to the doctors."

Shirley explained how she went to see her doctor but she "couldn't feel anything" but had some "past blood tests" that she hadn't been back to get the results of.

"I hadn't gone back for the results, my fault," she said. "And she was alarmed by them so she re-did all my bloods and last week she was alarmed by the testosterone levels, lack of estrogen levels, and other things going on.

"So I'm going on Friday at King's College."

She said she hopes to get the results a week or 10 days after her appointment on Friday.

Host Richard Madeley asked if she was "ok sleeping" to which Shirley said she was an insomniac and "never sleeps".

But Richard pushed her again: "Sorry, my question really was... you're entitled to worry. Is this something constantly playing on your mind?"

Shirley laughed off dodging his question before answering: "I try not to worry because it's so busy and there are other things that people are relying on me so every single day I just keep moving forward.

"I don't dwell on it because it will be what it will be."

There is a history of cancer in Shirley's family and she has had two scares herself, the most recent in June when she discovered a lump in her shoulder.

Shirley had her DD breast implants removed two years ago after being told they could block the signs of cancer being detected.

Last month the former dancer took to Instagram before Strictly to tell followers she had arranged an appointment and thanked them for their messages.

She said: "I got some alarming messages from people saying that when I picked my arm up they could see lumps or bumps.

"I did some self checks and I can't feel anything, but I'm going to go to the doctors on Tuesday.

"To all women out there please keep checking yourselves.

"To those people that were concerned enough to message me saying you could see lumps and bumps... thank you," she added in a video filmed in her BBC dressing room prior to the show.
