Strictly's Rylan confirms Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden will return after Covid news

Strictly It Takes Two presenter Rylan Clark-Neal has confirmed that "all being well", Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden will be able to return to the show following them both testing positive for Covid-19.

Tom was forced to miss a McFly show on Sunday due to feeling unwell, while the band later confirmed he had tested positive for coronavirus.

His professional dance partner Amy also tested positive, just a day after the pair took to the floor for the first time during the first live show of the series.

They will now miss the second week of the show, and the first public vote-off.

They are unable to train together too due to needing to self-isolate separately, while they are hoping to be back for week three.

All being that they test negative and are on the mend, Rylan confirmed on Monday's It Takes Two that the pair will be allowed to rejoin the competition.

He also sent his best wishes to the pair as they remain in isolation, ahead of week two kicking off on Saturday.

Speaking to viewers, he confirmed: "Now, unfortunately you may have heard that Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden have tested positive for Covid-19.

"Now, the pair are self-isolating separately, and they are also following the latest government guidelines.

"While they both unfortunately will miss Saturday's live show, Strictly Come Dancing protocols will mean all being well, they will return the following week guys.

"So fingers crossed for that, and we're sending you both all of our love."

The BBC confirmed the news over the weekend, and said in a statement: "Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden have tested positive for Covid-19. The pair are now self-isolating separately following the latest government guidelines.

McFly also shared the news of Tom's positive test result, after confirming he had to miss a gig on Sunday evening.

They said in a statement: "Unfortunately Tom is unwell and won't be onstage with us tonight in Glasgow. He sends huge and heartfelt apologies to all the fans he won’t see tonight. The show will still be going ahead, we’re looking forward to seeing you all and need you guys to sing extra loud for us tonight."

Tom retweeted the band's message, adding: "So, so sorry."

Strictly It Takes Two airs weeknights at 6:30pm on BBC Two.
