Strictly’s Rylan Clark-Neal 'asks BBC' to go by just his first name after marriage split

Strictly's Rylan Clark-Neal has reportedly asked the BBC to call him by just his first name after splitting with husband Dan Neal.

The presenter was referred to by his first name on It Takes Two and, according to sources, Rylan wants a "fresh start".

Co-host Janette Manrara was credited by her full name on the spin-off series.

"He thought it was best to have a fresh start and the easiest way to do that was to go back to just one name," the show's sources explained to The Sun.

"He didn’t want to make a big fuss - just to change it onscreen."

Mirror have contacted Rylan's reps for comment.

His Twitter and Instagram now only shows his first name.

The TV show favourite is reportedly divorcing his husband of six years, Dan , and has spent the past few months away from the limelight in order to work on his marriage and mental health.

He recently returned to It Takes Two and the voiceover introduced him as just Rylan.

Last month, sources close to the star said the former couple's marriage is "unsalvageable" despite trying to "work through their problems".

Speculation the couple was facing difficulties surfaced following the presenter's absence from his show, as well as missing hosting duties for May's Eurovision Song Contest.

In June, he confronted the rumours and said: "Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out as the way it is being reported is unfair.

"I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage."

Months later, sources told The Mail on Sunday that the couple had tried to work through their differences at their marital home after Rylan had spent long periods throughout the summer with his mum, Linda.

"Things were looking so good, like they were back together,’ said one source. "They hoped they could avoid divorce, but it’s now looking like the only way forward.

"Many around them were desperately hoping they can win the battle to save their relationship. It’s very sad."
