Strictly's Rose has Anton du Beke cracking with emotion after powerful routine with Giovanni

Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke echoed on his words after being immensely moved by Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice's poignant Couple's Choice routine on Saturday night.

After becoming the first couple to score 40 this series two weeks ago with their Halloween Week tango, EastEnders actress Rose and her dancing partner were hoping to be at the top of the leaderboard again this weekend.

And they very nearly reached the summit once again, thanks to their emotional performance to Clean Bandit's 2017 chart-topper Symphony.

In the VT before the dance, the final one of the night, Rose said that there would be a 'special moment' half way through and when it arrived it saw the music cut and the studio fall silent as she and Giovanni continued to dance.

Rose wanted the silence in the routine to reflect what it's like to be deaf and, after Strictly head judge Shirley Ballas stood up to acknowledge Rose 'sharing her story,' Anton cracked with emotion as he gave his comments to the couple.

He told them: "I'm nearly crying here," before telling them it was "the greatest dance ever" in Strictly history and going on to give Rose and Giovanni a 10.

Just like Anton, many viewers watching at home were left teary eyed by the Couple's Choice routine, with one tweeting: "Right I'm gonna say it, Rose and Giovanni are the best strictly couple ever. So beautiful. I agree with Anton, best moment in all the series ever."

A second agreed, posting: "STILL CRYING!!! I agree with Anton, Rose and Giovanni's dance was THE greatest dance in the history of #Strictly But calling it a 'dance' trivializes it, it was SO much more!! It was incredible! These pair are beautiful together."

Both Shirley and Motsi also gave a 10, with Craig giving them a 9.

Their total of 39 was enough to help Rose and Giovanni finish second, just one point behind Rhys and Nancy, who were stunned to get a perfect 40 for their Charleston.
