Strictly's Rose and Giovanni leave fans "obsessed" with amazing dance detail

EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis and dance partner Giovanni Pernice shot to second on the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard with their stunning Viennese Waltz on Saturday night.

And it left Strictly fans "obsessed" with the amazing detail in their performance.

Rose is the first deaf contestant to take part in Strictly, and Giovanni has been learning sign language as their partnership has blossomed over the past six weeks.

And on Saturday night, their dance, to Alicia Key's Fallin', began with a special start.

As the music began, the couple were acting out an emotional scene and an apparent argument between the two.

And both dancers used sign language to communicate the scene which viewers thought was a beautiful touch.

One fan said: "What a brilliant Viennese Waltz routine from Rose & Giovanni.

"The storytelling was truly superb & respect to Giovanni for taking the time to learn the sign language for the argument which started off the routine."

A second added: "The beautiful thing about Rose and Giovanni is that Giovanni is learning too."

Another said: "There should be more sign language in dance.

"It really goes together because it’s emotive and physical. Bloody love Rose."

A fourth said simply: "I am OBSESSED with Rose and Giovanni."

Another fan, echoing the sentiments of many watching, said: "If Rose and Giovanni's dance didn't move you, you have no soul. Stunning!"

The routine won the praise of the judges, who awarded them 37 points out of a possible 40 on Saturday night.

It placed them in second on the leaderboard, just behind baker John Whaite and his dance partner Johannes Radebe whose charleston won 38 points.

Fans of the hit BBC Strictly show are predicting a tense dance off on Sunday night this week.

It's after a real reversal of fortune on the leaderboard, seeing previous leader, Dragon's Den star Sara Davies languishing in the bottom two alongside rugby star Ugo Monye who has only just returned after a week off due to his back injury.
