Strictly's Oti Mabuse 'signs up' as judge on ITV's Dancing on Ice

Oti Mabuse has reportedly signed up to judge ITV's Dancing On Ice.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional will reportedly sit on the judging panel of the skating show when it returns next month, filling in the place left by former judge John Barrowman.

The BBC star will now sit alongside skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, as well as Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo, ahead of the brand new series - which will see the likes of Brendan Cole, Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor and Love Island's Liberty Poole take to the ice in a bid to impress the viewers at home.

"Signing up Oti is a brilliant coup for ITV bosses. They’re really excited about her joining the show," a source told The Sun on Sunday.

"She has excellent dance experience and technical knowledge, an infectious on-screen energy and has a massive fanbase from her time on Strictly, which helps draw viewers. It's also a great move for Oti’s career and the obvious next step for her."

However, sources have insisted she won't be leaving the BBC for good.

The insider added: "She’s not cutting ties with the Beeb altogether and is open to more future projects. But she’s looking forward to having a well-earned break over Christmas so she can get stuck into Dancing on Ice next month."

The Mirror has contacted Oti's and ITV's representatives for comment.

Ashley previously admitted he was "sad" John wasn't returning to the show.

"I’m very sad to see John leave the show. I’m going to miss him. I sent him a little message to say, 'You will be missed, John,'" he said, "I did that because at the end of the day we’re human. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not about showbiz - it’s about human relationships."

An ITV spokesperson confirmed to The Mirror that John was stepping down.

At the time, they said: "We thank John Barrowman for two brilliant years on the Dancing on Ice panel and are pleased to be working with him again as host of the forthcoming All Star Musicals specials."

Things haven't been going well in training for all the stars, with Brendan recently getting a head injury.

"I was on the ice and I took my mind off what I was doing for a second," he said, "I turned – and that’s the last thing I remember."
