Strictly's Oti Mabuse breaks silence on rumours she'll replace Darcey Bussell as judge

Oti Mabuse has opened up on rumours she could be replacing Darcey Bussell as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing.

The professional dancer found her name in the mix of possible replacements after capturing the hearts of the public as a coach on BBC's The Greatest Dancer.

However, she was quick to shut down any speculation that she would be taking to the judging panel alongside Bruno Tonioli, Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood.

When Zoe Ball quizzed her on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, she abruptly replied: "No, no. no".

"You see now the thing is, you would be brilliant at it, but the only thing is it would mean that we wouldn't get you on the dance floor," Zoe reasoned.

To which Oti replied: "Yeah, Yeah. I think the Strictly audience is just like “no we’re not ready to let her go”…

"But you know I love dancing I love coming to the rehearsals. I love being a part of the group, it’s a really special group to be a part of.

"There are no dancers like Strictly dancers, how close we are.… I think I would absolutely miss that and that part of it…"

Oti became a candidate after starring on The Greatest Dancer (Programme Name: The Greatest Dancer - TX: 02/02/2019 - Episode: The Greatest Dancer - Generics (No. n/a) - Picture Shows: Cheryl, Matthew Morrison, Oti Mabuse - (C) Syco - Photographer: Rahul Bhatt)

Stacey Dooley warned Kevin Clifton is 'commitment-phobe who falls in love every minute'

While Zoe tried to keep the mystery alive, teasing: "We'll just have to wait and see," Oti was happy to take her name out of the mix once and for all.

"I'll be dancing honey, I'll be dancing!", she replied.

Oti's rebuttal will mean bookmakers across the country are having a re-think, as she was the leading name tipped to replace Darcey when she announced she was leaving the show.

Her odds were at 6/4 of being the new judge, closely followed by fellow dancer Anton du Beke, at 2/1.

Meanwhile, former stars Karen Hardy and Brendan Cole are also tipped to return to the series in a new role, with their odds standing at 4/1 and 8/1 respectively.
