Strictly's Nina and Neil laugh off exit scandal after fans say they were 'robbed'

Nina Wadia and Neil Jones have poked fun at their early exit from Strictly Come Dancing and thanked fans for their support.

The former EastEnders actress and the professional dancer became the first couple to be booted off the BBC show over the weekend, after losing the dreaded dance-off against Katie McGlynn and her partner Gorka Marquez.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday morning, the ditched duo shared a hilarious sketch with Nina's 19,500 Instagram followers.

In the short clip, the pair can be seen walking down a hall together, before an off-camera voice orders the 52-year-old actress to hand over her oversized black handbag.

"What just happened?" Neil turns to the camera to ask, after giving up his phone to the mystery robber.

"I think the public were right Neil," Nina replies to her former co-star.

"I think we've been robbed!"

The pair then smirk and burst into giggles as they thank Strictly viewers for all their support.

"Thank you for all your votes," Nina tells her followers.

"We love you and we love Strictly!" Neil adds, blowing a kiss to the camera.

Instagram users loved the pair's humorous take on their early exit from the hit BBC show and took to the comment section to once again to share their disappointment at their Sunday night exit.

"Gutted you left the show. Wrong couple left," one fan quipped, as another wrote: "Awww shame you left I was looking forward to seeing so much more!"

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left gutted over the weekend, when Nina and Neil became the first couple to be booted off this year's series.

The duo had attempted to secure their place on next week's show with their Tango to Would I Lie To You? by Eurythmics, after finding themselves having to compete in the show's dreaded dance-off.

However, the judges were more impressed with Katie and Gorka's Jive to Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo during the dance-off on Sunday night.

After the results were revealed, Nina explained she had loved her time on the show - despite her experience being short and sweet.

“It’s been really fun, thank you so much. [Neil] is incredible, thank you,” the former soap star said.

Nina and Neil's elimination comes after new judge Anton Du Beke branded their Saturday night performance “uncomfortable” to watch.

The 55-year-old star said of their dance: “You made a couple of mistakes and whenever somebody makes a mistake it makes me go a bit twitchy because I’ve lived through those over the years and it’s slightly uncomfortable.

“Your body position as a whole is quite good. Really takes hold, I feel really comfortable watching it. It looks nice."

“But, your head needs a bit of work because it’s a bit straight. So, what I want you to do is keep your head on the same line as your spine,” the judge added.
