Strictly's Motsi Mabuse says she's fully prepared to clash with the other judges

Strictly Come Dancing star Motsi Mabuse has declared she's fully prepared to clash with the other judges as she expects "friction" on the panel.

Motsi, 38, has replaced Darcey Bussell on the panel for the 2018 series, joining Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.

Craig, 54, is known for being the most outspoken member, and has been embroiled in some tense showdowns with the other judges in the past.

However, Motsi is adamant she can hold her own in a spat with Craig.

She told Radio Times : "I'm used to friction on the panel. I mean, we all get emotional.

"I think the most important part of it is to respect the opinion of another judge.

"No one is better than the other...

"I was a German champion three times. I was a European finalist. I know what I'm talking about."

As well as her extensive experience as a dancer, she's also judged on other TV talent shows including Germany's Let's Dance, BGT spin-off Das Supertalent and Stepping Out.

Craig's sharp tongue recently got him in trouble as he was forced to apologise for a cruel joke he made about last year's winner Stacey Dooley.

Craig implied the reality star only won the 2018 crown because she was sleeping with her dance partner Kevin Clifton.

While filming the launch show, Craig said to the audience "Stacey was dragged up from the dance gutter...of course, if you sleep with your dance partner that helps."

Stacey's mum, who had been watching the filming with her daughter, reportedly stormed off in tears.

Motsi's appointment sparked a backlash from critics who complained that she wouldn't be able to judge the competition impartially, because her sister Oti is a professional dancer on the show.

Motsi rubbished the claims, saying "We're very professional about what we do.

"I'm not judging Oti - I'm judging the celebrity."

Motsi will be making her first appearance when the show returns on Saturday 7th November.
