Strictly's Motsi Mabuse says contestants 'have to be open' to show romance curse

Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse believes contestants should be 'open' to falling victim to the deadly Strictly curse.

The former professional dancer, 38, has told that she doesn't view professional performers and celebrity contestants becoming more than friends a curse and that when drinking is involved 'adult things happen.'

Motsi even told that she avoids 'going to parties' in order to not jeopardise her own relationship with husband Evgenij Voznyuk, 36.

Discussing how every year celebrities and their professional partners taking part in the BBC dancing show are subject to rumours that they are heating things up off the dancefloor, the beauty told The Sun : "People say it’s a curse but I think you have to be open to it for it to happen and that something must have been wrong [in a relationship] beforehand as well.

“But you know, if you work in this sort of world, adult things happen. Everyone goes for a drink and, whoops-a-daisy!”

She then explained: “That’s why I don’t go to parties!”

Motsi knows better than most how things can become steamy between two dance partners as she married her first husband who was her professional partner Timo Kulczak when she was aged 22.

She then went on to divorce him in 2014.

In 2017 she went on to remarry Ukrainian dancer Evgenij Voznyuk, 36, who she previously danced professionally with - the duo won the German Latin American title together in 2013 - and after they hung up their dancing shoes in 2014 they took their partnership up a notch.

Recalling the moment, she revealed: "We stopped and it was then that we realised that we wanted to do more than just dance together."

The couple welcomed a baby daughter 15-months ago.

Since the Strictly began there have been a number of stars who have cosied up with their dancing partners.

The 2019 season was full of scandal after comedian Seann Walsh was pictured sharing a kiss with married dancer Katya Jones.

Last year also saw Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley couple up once the series came to an end and they are still going strong.
