Strictly's Michelle Visage on how she brought her daughter back from brink of suicide

Her fans were outraged when Michelle Visage ended up in the week's dance off despite consistently finding herself at the top of the leaderboard.

RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle has wowed judges and viewers with her stunning performances with pro partner Giovanni Pernice.

But last week she had to fight for her survival on the hit BBC show when she had to face the dance off against axed Mike Bushell.

The 51-year-old, who danced the American Smooth, was determined she would keep her place in the competition.

She said: "I want this, desperately - more than I've wanted anything in a long time and I'm ready to fight for it."

And her fans were furious that she had found herself in the bottom two again.

There was a second blow for Michelle this week when she discovered she has been 'ditched from the Strictly arena tour'.

According to the  Daily Star Sunday  , the contestant, 51, was given the news over email after telly bosses decided they didn't need her.

A Strictly insider said "Michelle was approached by the producers working on the tour a while ago."

"They talked her through the dates and asked if she could be available.

"But then suddenly she got an email saying she wasn’t needed. The message was short and blunt."

However, tough cookie Michelle has battled back from personal trauma.

She has fought secret battle with a disease that she fears was caused by her breast implants.

Following a breast augmentation at 21-years-old, Michelle was diagnosed with the rare Hashimoto's disease which can cause weight gain and depression.

The auto immune disease, which attacks the thyroid gland, left the Drag Race judge with unexplainable symptoms so she was forced to carry out her own research.

She said: "My skin was crackly dry and my hair was falling out in clumps. I was also having hardcore panic attacks.

"My journey goes back to me getting breast implants at the age of 21. My body couldn't fight off the attacker because it was there 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

The telly star battled the secret health problem for decades which led to her hair falling out in clumps and her suffering with crippling panic attacks.

The Strictly star had the implants removed 30 years after getting them done and has since seen improvements.

She said: "Since having them removed, the thyroid nodule is going down, which is amazing."

Michelle has also battled heartache in her personal life when her daughter, Lillie, had suicidal thoughts.

The Drag Race judge has long been an advocate for mental health issues and her teenage daughter had battled depression for several years.

Michelle did everything she could to help her child with her problems.

She told the Daily Star: "My child genuinely didn't want to be on this earth any more and it's like, 'what the f*** do I do?"

Michelle says she initially tried a hollistic approach to help Lillie before she realised she had no choice but to turn to counselling and medication.

Three years ago Lillie turned a corner and is now healthy and happy.

But Michelle blames social media for the rise in young people battling mental illness.

She said: "With mental health, children are always forgotten, people tell them to 'man up and quit complaining' and Instagram really feeds into that."
