Strictly's Max George admits he's not ready for live shows after 'horrendous' training

Strictly's Max George has given fans a glimpse into the gruelling training regimen for the show, admitting that he'd been "horrendous" during the first few days.

The weekend's pre-recorded opening show saw The Wanted star pair up with Dianne Buswell.

And this Saturday will mark the new series' first live show, and the first time the new celeb roster gets feedback from the judges' bench.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, handsome Max told that he's found the training really tough.

"Just a little update! Live show is Saturday," he told.

"The first few days were horrendous, just rubbish. I was. But I'm starting to enjoy it more now and understand it more now.

"So...I'll never be ready for it, but just gonna have a go!"

And it seems Max has even sustained an injury during training, after he was papped sporting a wrist support about his right arm.

But fans need not fret, as a BBC spokesman assured us it's "nothing serious."

The full line-up for the 2020 series is the most star-studded yet.

NFL star Jason Bell, actress Caroline Quentin and GMB's Ranvir Singh are among the other big names that will be putting on their dancing shoes.

Jamie Laing's there too, having sat out last year's show due to injury.

Kelvin Fletcher stepped in at the last minute to take Jamie's place, and went on to lift the Glitterball Trophy - and even made an appearance on Saturday.

Nicola and Katya are making Strictly history (BBC)

And Olympic champ boxer Nicola Adams is making Strictly history as she takes to the floor in the show's first same-sex partnership.

Saturday saw her pair up with pro Katya Jones, the two of them getting on like a house on fire - with even Craig admitting he'll be watching their dance floor partnership with interest.

And Nicola has a simple solution for anyone who takes issue with a same-sex couple on the show - change the channel.

"This is 2020. We have to move with the times," she remarked.

*Strictly Come Dancing will return next Saturday at 7:25pm on BBC One.
