Strictly's Maisie Smith says HRVY romance rumours were 'inevitable' as chemistry heats up

Maisie Smith says romance rumours about her and HRVY were "inevitable".

The EastEnders star, 19, and the singer, 21, are the youngest contestants on this year's Strictly Come Dancing series.

And ever since their first appearance on the hit BBC One show, the pair have been plagued by rumours claiming they're looking to be more than just friends.

But for Maisie it's no surprise, as she suspected the public would love the pair to end up together.

“He’s amazing,” she told the The Daily Star.

Maisie rolled her eyes, adding: "I knew this would happen.”

Despite suspecting she'd be hit with romance rumours, Maisie has refused to rule out the possibility of something in the future.

Though she said the pair are just friends "at the moment", she added: "I was expecting these romance rumours from day one.

"I’m 19, he’s 21, we’re both single, so I feel like it was inevitable – but we’re just good pals at the moment.

"When I commented on his Instagram – I literally said he looked like spaghetti – everyone went mad calling me a flirt.

"I’m enjoying getting to know him, we have a connection, but we’re just friends."

But even if a romance with HRVY isn't on the cards, it seems as though Maisie has a long line of blokes wanting to be her man.

"People saw me shake my hips on the samba and it tickled a couple of feathers! So I’ve had a couple of people message me," she said.

"I’ve had messages from a couple of footballers, but I can’t say who – it wouldn’t be fair."

When quizzed by OK! about whether their flirting could lead to something more serious in the future, the actress teased that she hadn't ruled anything out so far.

“I think it would depend on how we did it," she continued.

"Right now... I think it’d be a ‘no’ as I love the friendship we have and I don’t want to ruin that, but I don’t know what’s going to happen a couple of months down the line.”
