Strictly's Kevin Clifton changed mind about leaving but didn't want to look like idiot

Strictly Come Dancing's Kevin Clifton almost had a change of heart over quitting.

BBC bosses have been in talks with Kevin about when he will make his return.

Stubbornly, the professional dancer didn't make a comeback to the show because he confessed he didn't want to look like an "idiot".

Kevin, 37, shied away from reversing the decision because of the talk sparked by the "big announcement" he had already made about leaving.

He told The Sun : “There were a couple of conversations about it, like, is it worth talking about it? But then I thought, I’ve just made this big announcement. I don’t want to look like an idiot."

The former star of the show opened up about the "constant conversation" with Strictly bosses which could lead to him coming back.

But he's convinced he won't consider it for another year or two.

Confident he has "pretty much done everything there is on the show", Kevin remains hesitant to agree to a definite date for returning.

He added: “When I was having the conversations with Strictly about when is the right time for me to make this decision, I am thinking about it this year but maybe not, maybe in another year or two, I don’t know.

“We’re having a constant conversation, and at the moment I feel I’ve pretty much done everything there is to do on the show.”

Kevin left the show which made him famous in March earlier this year.

The dancer had reached the final with his celeb partners Susanna Reid, Frankie Bridge, Kellie Bright and Louise Redknapp - all of whom came second.

His decision to leave come before the UK went into a national lockdown in March amid the coronavirus pandemic.

This year's Strictly has made some major shake-ups to ensure it can still film while considering the safety of the TV crew, celebs and dancers.

These included the dancers and celebs isolating together.
