Strictly's Kevin Clifton hotly tipped for I'm A Celeb after teasing new venture

Kevin Clifton has joined the line-up of celebrities rumoured to be heading to the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! jungle this year.

After sensationally quitting his seven year role on Strictly, Kevin has now cleared his diary from September to December - when the ITV show returns to the air.

Bookies have even slashed the dancer's odds to just 3/1 at joining hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly down under.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Strictly's loss could be I'm A Celeb's gain if the latest odds are anything to go by and we wouldn't be surprised to see Kevin Clifton head Down Under for the next series."

As a former Glitterball Trophy winner Kevin could bring his competitive edge to the Bushtucker Trials - as well as teaching his lucky campmates a few dance moves round the fire.

When Kevin announced his departure from Strictly in March, he revealed the decision was largely down to him being offered his lifetime dream of playing Scott Hastings in a production of Strictly Ballroom The Musical.

However since the coronavirus pandemic broke out, the production  -which had been due to take off in June- had to be put on hold.

As he revealed in his latest podcast, Kevin, 37, isn't sitting idle and is already considering his next venture - which he teased will be a change of direction.

Kevin, pictured with girlfriend Stacey Dooley, said he's considering new ventures after leaving the BBC One show (Instagram)

During a chat with screenwriter Joe Barton, Kevin said: "I think I'm going to write a children's book. A boy who dances.

"I did a course with the, oh forgotten his name...The guy who writes the Goosebumps novels. Kids books. R.L Stine. Yeah that's it."

Kevin explained: "I'm just fascinated with it, all these things that they start talking about."

Kevin does combine his writing hobby with a stint in the jungle, he would be following in the footsteps of fellow ex Strictly professional Camilla Dallerup.

Camilla starred on the show in 2009 but quit after just three days.

The dancer broke down in tears numerous times and said she was struggling to cope with the conditions.

She told the Bush Telegraph she was concerned about her health if she stayed any longer.

"I feel really weak like I could faint any time.  I don’t have any reserve.  I’m a small person and I don’t have any reserve to draw on and today when I woke up its got worse everyday. I just feel this is the worst I've ever felt," she said.
