Strictly's Kelvin Fletcher admits he's 'struggling' with being away from young family

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 star Kelvin Fletcher has shared his "struggle" with being away from his young family while training for the show.

The former Emmerdale star is away from his wife Liz and two young children Marnie, 3, and Milo, 10 months, throughout the week while he rehearses for the live shows each weekend.

Kelvin earned the first 10s of the series with professional dance partner Oti Mabuse on Saturday night, with him tipped to win the entire show.

Now, following another successful performance, the actor has explained why he got emotional after his latest routine on the BBC series.

He took to Instagram in the week to share an adorable moment with his children, practising his moves with little Milo.

Daughter Marnie was also heard in the video, with the Strictly results show on Sunday seeing host Claudia Winkleman play the clip to viewers.

Kelvin couldn't hide the smile on his face on seeing the sweet clip, with him then opening up on missing his young family.

Claudia said to him: "You got emotional on Saturday night, and you said to me, 'It's not just me doing Strictly, it's my whole family'."

Kelvin responded: "I've only got a young family so to be away from them all week and miss them, that's the part I'm really struggling with."

He added: "To have that little dance with Milo, and to hear Marnie's voice in the video, I honestly feel like they're with me all the way.

"Now Oti is part of the family as well and it feels incredible. We're all in this together."

Kelvin made it through another week, after being saved in the public vote.

It was Anneka Rice and her professional dance partner Kevin Clifton who were voted off the show, losing the dance-off.

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One.
