Strictly's Katya Jones faced calls to be 'sacked' after 'drunk' accusations on show

Katya Jones has revealed that she was accused of being "drunk" on the show after suffering a nasty fall, prompting some to even call for the BBC to sack her.

The professional dancer, 30, said that she felt that people were still waiting for her to "slip up" following last year's kissgate scandal.

She became the subject of much controversy in 2018 after she was caught kissing her celebrity partner Seann Walsh in the street.

In the summer, Katya and Neil announced that they were splitting but insisted that they were amicable with one another.

During week three's dance with Mike, Katya ended up tripping up backwards and fell on the floor, but managed to style out as she shouted at her partner to "keep going".

Later, when they ran up to join Claudia, she jokingly fell on the floor again. However this led some to accuse her of being drunk.

Speaking on Loose Women today, she said: "It's a little bit sad, to be honest, because I got to many messages saying, 'Oh she's drunk, BBC should fire her'."

She also addressed rumours of a rift between her and Neil and said that "dancing brought them together".

"People want me to slip up," she told the panelists and revealed that when she literally slipped on the dance floor she was accused of being "drunk".

Asked how she felt about Neil finally having a partner, she said: "Oh my god, so excited - finally!

"He's got all the credentials, he's the world champion and he's just brilliant. I'm so happy for him. I think him and Alex are really good partners."
