Strictly's Katie McGlynn can't wait to show off 'fun' side after tragic Corrie storyline

Actress Katie McGlyn can’t wait to show off her “positive, fun” side after her Coronation Street role as tragic Sinead, who died of cancer.

Katie, 28, said: “I’m very nervous for the viewers to see a different side of me because I’ve always read from a script and done serious storylines. When it’s very serious it can drain you.”

In reality, she is all about fun.

Katie said: “I don’t take things too seriously so this is just my cup of tea. I want to smile, I want to laugh, I want to dance and have a good time.

“And hopefully make some life-long friends.”

It comes after Katie vowed to give up her 'party lifestyle' according to a pal.

The former Coronation Street was pictured slumped in the street back in July after a booze-filled night out at The Ivy in Manchester.

According to a friend, the soap star - who is now starring as Becky in Hollyoaks - is said to have sworn off nights out for now, and will be dedicating her time to fitness ahead of her stint on the BBC competition later this year.

"Katie is a young woman and loves going out with her pals," they told The Sun.

"But those pictures weren't great for her look and she was warned against doing anything which could hamper her chances on Strictly."

They added: "She is totally focused on the show. Instead of partying, Katie has become a gym junkie and is working out three times a week. Katie knows how physically taxing Strictly can be."

It's claimed Katie wants to carry on the success of soap stars competing on Strictly, following Maisie Smith's stint on the show last year.

In recent weeks, Katie was rumoured to be pairing up with Giovanni Pernice on the series - who she was romantically linked to back in 2017 - although it is yet to be confirmed.

Stars including Dianne Buswell, Gorka Marquez and Giovanni Pernice are now holed up in a hotel together in order to bubble.

There have been some slight changes this year, as Anton Du Beke will replace Bruno Tonioli as a judge.

And there are four new pros joining the ranks and participating in the fight for the Glitterball Trophy.

Kai Widdrington, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard and Jowita Przystal will all be putting on their dancing shoes and hitting the iconic dance floor.
