Strictly's Katie and Gorka 'humbled and grateful' to avoid elimination

Strictly Come Dancing's Katie and Gorka will be pulling their socks up to avoid elimination this weekend.

The pair appeared on Strictly - It Takes Two and spoke to host Rylan Clark-Neal about their experience last weekend.

Soap star Katie McGlynn and her partner Gorka were almost eliminated last week after they faced harsh comments and low scores for their jive.

Coronation Street star Katie said: "I feel so humbled and grateful that we are still in. I think the competition was so fierce- everybody was incredible so it was anyone's guess who would be in the bottom two.

"When I heard it, my heart just sank and we needed to find the energy to do it. And we did, and we are still here."

Strictly - It Takes Two host Rylan Clark-Neal asked Katie what she thought about the judges' comments from their performance, which were critical of her stamina.

Katie said: "I always take on board the judges' comments, because they know what they are doing.

"Like I have always said, I'm not a dancer and I want to be a sponge, I want to learn it all. SO I want them to criticise us so I improve- but it was still a bit harsh."

Katie's dance partner Gorka said: "Luckily this week its not a very full-on dance that requires the stamina. But, we need to keep running the umbers and improving the stamina by dancing more and more and more each day in the week."

The pair are looking forward to movie week this weekend. Katie will be performing as Cruella de Ville and says she will "immerse" herself in the character to stay out of the bottom two.

Katie said of her character: "She's' a fashionista, she's very dominant, she's above everybody else.

"I love playing evil people, because I like to say I'm not evil, and it means I get to boss him (Gorka) about.

"We are just going to pull our socks up and get on with it."
