Strictly's Judi Love 'so proud' of Tilly Ramsay for standing up for herself in weight row

Judi Love has praised co-star Tilly Ramsay for standing up for herself against cruel body-shamers.

The teenage Strictly Come Dancing contestant hit back at LBC radio host Steve Allen last week, after the 67-year-old broadcaster made cruel jibes about her weight on-air.

Writing in her OK! column on Tuesday, Judi, 41, praised her fellow Strictly star for her maturity and spoke about her own experience with fat shaming online.

"I’m shocked that Steve would make such a cruel comment," the Covid-stricken star wrote.

"I’ve experienced fat shaming online and I know how hard it is to deal with."

She continued: "I’m proud of Tilly for speaking up for herself and calling him out – at 19, she’s shown far more maturity than him."

The Loose Women presenter then stated she stands by Tilly, 19, and has sent her love to the TikTok star.

Judi, who missed last weekend's live shows due to contracting Covid-19, then went on to discuss body image in general.

The TV star revealed she has been asked if losing "a bit of weight" has made her feel any sexier during her Strictly stint.

The mum-of-two then explain how "losing weight doesn’t equate to sexiness."

"We need to shake off this image of what is beautiful and sexy and realise that all shapes and sizes are sexy," the star added in her column.

Earlier this year, Judi said boys she had tried to date had rejected due to her weight during a candid debate on an episode of Loose Women.

"I was a plus size girl when I was younger, I was a size 14 which I don't see as plus size," the star began on the ITV show back in May.

"Guys would be like, 'you’re nice looking but you're a bit big', or 'I don't usually go for a big girl'."

She continued: "So I never really went for the pretty boys, I went for the boys that were quite unique, they held their own, they didn't have to speak up or be the loud one at the parties."

Elsewhere in Judi's weekly column, the star gave readers an update as she recovers from Covid-19.

The broadcaster and professional partner Graziano Di Prima were missing from this weekend's live Strictly Come Dancing shows, as the mum-of-two isolated at home in London.

Writing in OK!, the star explained how she was "upset" to get a positive result after experiencing cold-like symptoms and taking a Covid-19 test.

She then went on to tell her readers she was feeling "lethargic and achy" and urged everyone to remember the importance of social distancing.

Judi and Graziano are expected to return to the dance floor this weekend.

Speaking in a statement last week, the BBC said: "While Judi and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend, Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week."
