Strictly's John Whaite responds to fans' concerns after live tour ends

Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite has reassured fans he's alright after they were left concerned for him following the final show of the live tour.

Former Bake Off champion John finished second on the BBC show in December, alongside pro partner Johannes Radebe; with the programme's first ever all male partnership wowing viewers with a string of amazing routines.

John and Johannes were pipped to victory by eventual 2021 champions Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice and last month joined them and a host of other Strictly stars, including Sara Davies and Rhys Stephenson on a nationwide tour.

The tour played to packed crowds in the likes of Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool and London where it wrapped at the O2 at the weekend.

Rose and Giovanni got the public vote in 31 out of 33 shows, but John and Johannes did triumph in Manchester.

John took to Instagram to reply to messages he'd had from fans checking up on him and told them: "A lot of you lovely people are asking if I’m ok now that strictly has ended. Thank you.

"I promise I’m fine. Naturally, I’m sad that it’s over because for the past 6 months I’ve had so much fabulous fun, so there was always going to be a little bit of bereavement - as when anything so spectacular comes to an end - but I feel very lucky to have been able to take part in it."

John added: "We made some beautiful memories that I’ll cherish forever, but we move on and we have to dust ourselves off and get on with real life."

John's post came after reigning champion Rose posted on Instagram about her whirlwind Strictly journey, writing: "ix months ago, I didn't have a clue what I signed up for and to be honest I was terrified. Now, I know for sure that it was the best decision I have ever made, what a crazy ride and life changing experience it has been."

After thanking dance partner Giovanni and all the fans who voted for them, EastEnders star Rose ended: "Now I am home, in my safe space with some calmness after the whirlwind that was strictly. I feel myself heading off to new adventures and I can't wait to see what happen next. But I will never forget everything that strictly has given me."
