Strictly's Johannes Radebe apologises over salsa slip-up as he's dropped by John Whaite

The pair thrilled with their energetic routine on the BBC One show.

But Johannes was left devastated after slipping up.

As former Bake Off winner John went to put his pro dance partner back on the floor during a challenging lift, Johannes stretched out his wrong hand and he dropped to the ground.

He admitted his error to host Tess Daly and apologised.

"I'm so sorry," he said.

And when asked what he was sorry for he confessed: "I gave him the wrong hand."

A laughing Tess said: "Oh no. Well he did very well considering you're a very big boy to lift."

But he needn't have worried because it was hailed as a 'fantastic start to the evening' by judge Motsi Mabuse.

"Well done," she said.

The pair scored 32 points out a possible 40 and placed midway on the leaderboard.

"The fact that he can carry this big weight. It was incredible," Johanned continued to praise John.

And John said about the moment: "You hit the floor with such a thud before as well."

Host Claudia Winkleman brushed away talk of the mistake by saying: "It was charming. I won't have it."

And it was a big discussion topic on Twitter with fans praising him for styling it out.

@OfficialCWH said: "John dropping Johannes was the highlight of my week."

@jim_crawfurd tweeted: "Totally this. So much fun, Johannes absolutely loving every moment, and the (unintentional) drop at the end just made it even better. Love them."

@_Niamh_Mc praised: "If anyone is going to make a drop to the floor fabulous it’s Johannes."

@wkdblueeyes said: "Love John & Johannes samba #Strictly2021 Made me smile, especially the not so staged lift and sort of drop at the very end."

@__Anastazia__remarked: "Johannes styling out that lift drop like a BOSS."

And @mxltibinge asked: "Did John mean to drop Johannes or did they just make it look smooth??"
