Strictly's Jacqui Smith in 'agony' as she faces uphill battle to stay on show

A Strictly Come Dancing contestant has been left in 'agony' as they battle to defy bookies odds and avoid elimination this weekend.

The live shows on the hit BBC series got going last weekend and while young popstar HRVY and EastEnders actress Maisie Smith wowed the judges and earned themselves amazing first week scores of 25/30 and 24 respectively, former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith was left languishing at the bottom of the leaderboard after scoring just 13.

Jacqui is partnered with Strictly veteran Anton du Beke but, ahead of the second live show on Saturday night has revealed training is taking its toll as bookies have her as a dead cert to fall victim of the first public vote.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, she said: "There has been quite a lot of bouncing.

"My knees are suffering and my feet are in agony.

I'm getting through the plasters like a rate of knots, but I'm really enjoying this dance.

"All I need to do - all I need to do - is give it some welly and hopefully make sure everyone enjoys it as much as I am."

Jacqui and Anton will be hoping to climb up the leaderboard and impress viewers at home with a Samba to Help Yourself by Tom Jones.

Other songs and dances for this weekend include HRVY and pro partner Janette Manrara dancing a Viennese Waltz to Stuck With U by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber and Maisie and pro Gorka Marquez doing a Tango to Midnight Sky by Miley Cyrus.
