Strictly Come Dancing 's Kevin Clifton was reportedly overheard moaning "I told you so" to fellow dancers when he was booted off the show in week two.
The dancer, 36, and his partner Anneka Rice, 61, failed to impress judges when they come up against David James and his partner Nadiya Bychkova in the dance-off.
It's claimed last year's winner was embarrassed because he was defeated so early in the competition with the broadcaster.
A Strictly source told the newspaper: “Kevin adores Anneka as a person but professionally he knew his chances of making another final were over, especially as she’s struggled with injury and fitness.
“Going out in the second week was humiliating for him. In his eyes he’s ‘King Kev’ – and he’s done phenomenal routines with his previous partners.
“He’s got a friend for life in Anneka and he loved working with her. But this series is one he wants to forget.”
The Mirror have approached Kevin Clifton's representatives for further comment.
Kevin lifted the glitter ball trophy for the first time with his now-girlfriend Stacey Dooley last year.
The journalist broke her silence when her boyfriend was voted out of the competition in the early stages.
In a sweet statement, Stacey insisted she was "so proud" of Kevin as she gushed he was "the most incredible teacher".
She said: "Kev and Anneka got knocked out this weekend and I just want to say I am so proud of both of them and especially Kevin because I just think he is the most incredible teacher...
"She did that beautiful waltz, its very easy to be proud of someone when you are winning and flying high and its all going brilliantly.
"But its also very important to tell them they are wicked when they get knocked out..so yes..well done!"
His partnership with Stacey last year blossomed into a flourishing romance.
Kevin has an incredible track record on Strictly Come Dancing, having come runner-up on a number of years.
The choreographer has previously made the Strictly final with Frankie Bridge, Louise Redknapp and Susanna Reid.
