Strictly's HRVY sent Maisie Smith a 'rude message' after watching her dance

The rivalry among Strictly Come Dancing's celebrities has already kicked off with HRVY admitting that he has sent Maisie Smith a 'rude message'.

The 21-year-old YouTuber has admitted that he sent EastEnders star Maisie Smith, 19, a disparaging message after he watched her dance with professional Kevin Clifton on a Children In Need Special.

Her prowess on the dancefloor at that time saw her win the special Strictly show and Maisie is among the favourites to lift the Glitterball Trophy before Christmas.

HRVY decided to bring her back down to earth by telling her performance was "very average" as competition among the BBC show's two youngest stars has heated up as rehearsals begin.

Speaking ahead of the show's launch, HRVY said: "I messaged Maisie saying 'I guess you’re my competition this year then?'

"Obviously everyone’s my competition but I saw her on the Children in Need special and she’s really good."

He continued: "I DM’d her and said it was very average just so she wasn’t too big headed about it!"

Among the others in the Strictly line-up, HRVY has singled out The Wanted's Max George as a potential winner, saying that he was a boyhood hero of his.

Speaking about what Max has to offer, HRVY said: "I went to The Wanted’s last concert when I was younger - I was a big fan, so it’s really cool that Max is doing it.

"I think it’s nice that there’s such a mix of different people, when I saw the line up I was really happy and they all seem like lovely people."

HRVY himself has already had a difficult start to his Strictly experience after he tested positive for Covid-19 and has been sent into self-isolation while his rivals start their training.

He was the only contestant missing from this year's glitzy makeover photos after his coronavirus diagnosis was discovered during one of the bi-weekly tests both the contestants and pros have to take this year.

HRVY is unable to meet his dance partner on October 12, like the other celebs, and will likely end up having less time to rehearse.
