Strictly's Helen Skelton throws shade at Craig Revel Horwood and his 'tantrums'

Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton couldn't resist making a dig at Craig Revel Horwood during Friday night's launch show.

The Blue Peter presenter appeared to be taking none of Craig's usual sass as she introduced herself to the judges.

Host Tess Daly joked that she wasn't wearing her usual wellies, to which Helen replied: "No thermal vest, I mean where would you even put a thermal vest in this?"

Helen, 39, sparkled in a glam 1920s style flapper dress and a pair of nude dancing heels.

Tess asked her whether she was "enjoying all this sparkly gorgeousness" as she gestured to Helen's outfit.

"I've already had a lovely time so I'm done now, I can go," Helen joked.

Tess then asked: "Blue Peter presenters, they face some pretty terrifying challenges tomorrow night, you'll face Craig Revel Horwood with paddles, how do you feel about that?"

Helen quipped: "Well I've got three little kids, so I don't think there's any tantrum you could throw at me that I haven't already seen."

"Ohhhhhh, well said Helen," laughed Tess, "fighting talk, Craig," she added.

Craig looked very unimpressed as he held a blank expression to the camera.

"Am I going to regret that?" Helen then added sheepishly.

"You might live to regret it," Tess laughed, before asking what was important to her in a dance partner.

The camera panned back to Craig who lightened up and gave a little smile, letting Helen know that there were no hard feelings.

Helen, who is from Carlisle, joked that she needed someone who could understand her Northern accent.

The presenter was paired up with Gorka Marquez, and seemed incredibly happy about it.

This isn't the first time that Helen has stepped onto the dance floor, as she appeared on the Christmas edition of the show in 2012.

As well as Blue Peter she features regularly on Channel 5 show On The Farm, and was recently announced as the new host of the BBC Radio 5 Live Sunday morning programme.

Helen was left heartbroken after her husband Richie Myler split in April - just four months after the birth of their youngest child Elsie.

She was married to the rugby player for nine years and as well as Elsie, they share two sons: Ernie, seven and Louis, five.

She released a statement at the time which read: "Very sad to say Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children."
