Strictly's Helen Skelton publicly backs Jowita Przystal after Giovanni Pernice split

Helen Skelton has given a public show of support to Strictly Come Dancing star Jowita Przystal amid reports that she has split from fellow pro Giovanni Pernice, not long after they went official with their romance.

Right after Jowita clinched victory on Strictly last year, alongside CBBC star and wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin, it was reported that her and former Glitterball winner Giovanni were an item, having grown close behind the scenes on the BBC show. The dancers were said to be 'inseparable' with rumours of a romance seemingly confirmed when they were spotting leaving his flat together at the start of the year.

However, it is now been reported that Jowita and Giovanni have parted ways, with the catalyst for their break up said to be their hectic schedules, with Jowita recently travelling the length and breadth of the UK on the Strictly live tour and Giovanni hitting the road with his Made in Italy show.

Dishing on their split, a source said; "Giovanni and Jowita enjoyed a number of dates after the last series of Strictly and they got on really well. But as time has passed they have found it increasingly difficult to build on their relationship because of their hectic work schedules."

While not addressing a break up of any kind, Jowita has been on Instagram since she and Giovanni made headlines, posting a photo of herself on holiday in the Maldives.

She captioned the shot: "Appreciate every second" and former Blue Peter host Helen was one of the first to react in the comments thread, writing: "Errr," along with a series of flame emojis.

Helen's support for Jowita comes as she's been linked with an appearance on the next series of Celebs Go Dating, following the breakdown of her marriage to rugby star Richie Myler before going on Strictly last year.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: "Helen has already proved she is great on TV and is really interesting to watch. The public really felt of her after her split and bosses everyone would love to see her dating journey."

The insider added: "They are willing to offer her big bucks to take part, but it loks like Helen really isn’t interest in sharing that part of her life. It would take a lot to change her mind"
