Strictly's Helen Skelton left 'crying' and 'very sad' backstage after results show

Strictly's Helen Skelton was left "crying" and "very sad" despite making it through another week of the show with dance partner Gorka Márquez.

The pair left fans and judges in awe with their latest dance routine to the Blue Peter theme tune as part of the BBC's 100th anniversary celebrations. Helen and Gorka scored 35 points out of 40 with their Charleston with judge Shirley Ballas labelling the dance "phenomenal".

After it was announced that they were through to Halloween week, Helen, who co-presented Blue Peter from 2008 to 2013, took to Instagram to share her gratitude. Despite the overwhelmingly positive feelings, the 39-year-old revealed that she was "crying" after it was announced Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer have been voted off the show.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Helen, who forged a close friendship with Jayde over the last few months, said she was saddened by the Strictly results. Standing next to Gorka, she said: "I'm really happy that we're through and thank you so much for being kind to us.

"But, I'm crying because Jayde and Karen are our girls, they're our fam, so I'm very sad."

Turning to Gorka, she asked: "So we have to be really good now, right?" He replied: "We just want to thank everybody for your love and support and we're just going to be doing our best and keep working very hard, have lots of fun and enjoy, so hopefully we will make you enjoy at home.

"Thank you so much for your support, it means the world to us."

It comes after Helen paid a heartwarming tribute to the pro dancer, who she called the brother she "never had or wanted”. She said: "He looks after me, keeps me right, gets me breakfast, tells me what I need to do so I’m very grateful.”
