Strictly's Helen Skelton forced to bribe son with £20 to sleep in his own bedroom

Helen Skelton has confessed that she still sleeps in the same bed as her children, and she even has to bribe her son with a £20 note in a bid to get him to sleep in his own room.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 39, who shares her three children with ex-husband Richie Myler, has said that her littles ones find it difficult to sleep on their own, and as a result, they always find themselves navigating into their mum's bed.

The Countryfile presenter, who split from her rugby league star husband earlier this year, opened up about the joys and difficulties of motherhood as she continues to co-parent the former couple's three children, Ernie, 7, Louis, 5 , and Elsie, 10 months.

"Mine are terrible sleepers, they like to sleep in my bed which isn’t good, but then other people will be like ‘well that isn’t good?’

“Rather than ‘Oh that’s nice because they’ll be 18 soon!’ But it’s survival. I got my eldest to sleep in his own bed the other night and he was negotiating a deal and said he would for £20."

Helen joked: "I was like – ‘I can’t give you £20 a night!’ No wonder I’ve had to go back to work.”

In recent months, Helen has cherished her precious time with her kids while she continues to wow the public on Strictly Come Dancing.

The mum-of-three has had to juggle her time with her family and her Strictly commitments - but it's all been paying off.

She's set to take to the dancefloor with an explosive Jive on Saturday night on the BBC One show.

And Helen has spoken out about her partnership with Gorka Marquez, saying she feels 'so lucky' to be dancing with the Latin champion, 32, in a recent exclusive interview with The Mirror.

After judge Motsi Mabuse hailed Helen as a front-runner to make the final last week, the Countryfile presenter, 39, says she isn't getting ahead of herself and is just thrilled to be smiling and laughing all day with Gorka and the Strictly team.

"Gorka is a world-class dancer who spends all day teaching me how to dance. I'm very lucky, every bit is joyous," she told.

Helen also said Strictly has put a smile on her face after a tough few months following the breakdown of her marriage to Richie in April.

She released a statement at the time, which read: "Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children."

Richie, is now expecting a baby with his new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill, who is daughter of the multi-millionaire president of Leeds Rhinos - the rugby club the dad-of-three currently plays for.

The mother-of-three, who moved back into her parents' home in Cumbria in the wake of her marriage breakdown, says the BBC competition has put a smile back on her face.

"For me, all I wanted to do in this competition is smile, work, learn and improve. If I get to the end of each week and I've done that brilliantly, if I get through the week then I'm ecstatic," she explained.
