Strictly’s Helen Skelton flooded with messages as she makes parenting admission

Strictly Come Dancing’s Helen Skelton revealed that she receives thousands of messages from mums since appearing on the BBC show.

The Strictly final is just weeks away and after impressing judges and viewers at home with her Salsa, she has managed to land a place in the quarter final with her pro dance partner Gorka.

Helen appeared on the Lorraine show Thursday morning to discuss her upcoming couple’s choice performance to Mein Herr.

Helen opened up about how she has been an inspiring woman who says she is ‘living their dream', Daily Mail reports. Lorraine asked: “Your confidence took a terrible knock - but there you are in the quarter finals! We had Ellie Taylor on yesterday and she wants you to win. So much support. Do you feel as if you've got your sparkle back a little bit?”

Helen explained: “Ellie and I are the same in that we're mums, we've got jobs. There was one week when she looked at me and she was dressed as Little Bo Peep - and she looked at me and said, ‘What are we doing, we have mortgages!’

“It's a massive challenge in the best possible way. And I think sometimes when you're an adult it's good to just challenge yourself.

“We've talked about it a lot, you know women like us we've got a job, relationships and your house, your kids, PTA meetings, and all this sort of stuff you've got to do.

“Then an opportunity comes along to do something fabulous and indulgent for yourself and making your family proud and entertaining my kids.

“I just wanted to throw myself into it and have a good time. I'm really grateful for the opportunity. I'm so overwhelmed by all the support.

“On a Monday morning, I get a sea of messages from women saying: ‘We're living through you vicariously every Saturday night! You're living our dream, go for it!’.

“I think because of that I really have to go for it, you know whenever I think I'm a bit nervous, I think there's loads of people who want to be in my shoes so I make the most of it.”

Helen recently broke down in tears during last Saturday’s episode of Strictly as she admitted that she feels like a "different person" since taking part in the BBC dance competition.

She told her pro dance partner Gorka how her dad Richard had said she seemed like herself again after she gave her 'best performance yet' at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom last week.

Helen said: “He just looked at me and said 'you seem like you again' and I'm certainly a different person than when we started.”

She asked Gorka: “I think even you would say I'm a different person from day one, right?” Helen went through a public breakup earlier this year as she announced her split from Leeds rugby player Richie.

Richie is now expecting his first child with girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill, the daughter of the multi-millionaire president of Leeds Rhinos.
