Strictly's Greg Wise in tears after dedicating disco dance to late sister

Strictly Come Dancing's Greg Wise was in tears on Saturday night as he dedicated his performance to his late sister.

The 55-year-old actor sadly lost his sibling Claire to cancer and was keen to remember her as he and partner Katya Jones did a disco routine.

During the VT before they danced, Greg explained that his sister was a huge disco fan before confirming that he cared for her before her tragic death.

"It's one of the hardest things when you are with someone you love, witnessing their pain and their fear and what you're able to do to mitigate that," Greg said.

"I think my sister would be absolutely thrilled that I'm doing this because of her," Greg added, before taking to the dance floor.

At the end of the dance, he was seen looking up to the sky and also became tearful as he hugged Karen.

Viewers tuning in at home were also feeling emotional and took to Twitter to comment.

"Didn’t think Greg Wise doing disco would be the thing to get to me but that’s #strictly for you," one person posted.

Another tweeted: "Wow watching @bbcstrictly and I'm in tears. That was an amazing tribute to your sister Greg. Well done for your dance! #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

"Still have a massive lump in my throat from watching Greg Wise dedicate his dance to his sister. He’s right, it’s both a huge privilege and traumatic being with someone in the last days. #StrictlyComeDancing #strictly," a third added.

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results airs Sunday at 7:05pm on BBC One.
