Strictly's Gorka Marquez emotional as career venture away from BBC show ends

Gorka Marquez has penned an emotional message to fans as his career venture with another Strictly Come Dancing star came to an end at the weekend.

There was widespread upset amongst Strictly fans at the end of last year, when it was revealed that, despite making it all the way to the final with Helen Skelton, Gorka would not be playing any part in the show's live arena tour. Helen was instead partnered with Kai Widdrington to do the tour, as Gorka told fans that he'd turned down the opportunity to do it in order to spend some much needed time with his family.

But, while he was a notable absentee from the Strictly tour, Gorkas has been enjoying live on the road more recently, teaming up with fellow Strictly pro Karen Hauer for their Firedance show. The production has been wowing audiences all over the country and, Gorka was clearly had mixed emotions as he and Karen took their final bows, while also giving a huge hint that he and Karen will be back on tour again next year.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Thank you to everyone who came to watch @firedancelive You’ve danced, screamed, clapped and cried with us and allowed us to share our love and passion for dance with you all.

"It really has been an incredible few weeks Touring the UK. We can’t wait to be back next year and visit even more places to perform for you."

Gorka ended the post: "Thanks to each and every person behind the scenes for this production. The teams work ethic and love for the show, as always was 100%. You’re all awesome!!"
