Strictly's Giovanni says his 'special secret' with Rose made touching dance

Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice has said that he and partner Rose Ayling-Ellis made sure that they kept the silent section of their touching dance a "special secret" between them to ensure that it made the impact they wanted.

The couple performed a Couple's Choice routine on Saturday night to Clean Bandit's Symphony.

Their dance left viewers and judges alike speechless with its beauty, particularly a moment which saw them perform in silence.

They ended up near the top of the leaderboard after receiving 39 out of 40, with Craig Revel Horwood being the only judge to not give them a perfect 10.

Appearing on It Takes Two with host Rylan Clark Neal, the pair spoke about the reaction they had received to their performance.

"It was a special dance because it showed the message that I wanted it to show," she explained. "When they find out that their child is deaf, their world is crushed... but it's not like that."

Meanwhile Giovanni said that they had kept the silent segment a "special secret" from everyone.

"At first, I asked her whether she agreed, because it was between the two of us," he said. "She said it was a great idea."

"Sometimes it's not about the scores," he continued. "It's just the message. You have to understand.

"I'm very proud that we achieved that and hopefully we'll inspire other deaf kids to dream."

Giovanni added about Rose: "She's a role model."

Following their spine-tingling performance with Rose at the weekend, Giovanni took to social media to admit that the special dance will ‘remain in his heart forever’.

Alongside a sweet snap of Giovanni and Rose sharing a sweet embrace after their stellar performance, the Italian dancer penned: “A moment that will remain forever in my heart️.

“You really are a ROLE MODEL,” Giovanni added.
