Strictly's Giovanni's cheeky birthday message for Rose as they spend day together

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice teased his dance partner Rose Ayling-Ellis as she turned 27 this week.

The pair have become extremely close since coupling up for the 2021 season of Strictly and EastEnders star Rose often features on Giovanni's Instagram.

And of course as they rehearse for yet another show this weekend, the pair spent Rose's birthday together and the professional dancer excitedly teased that they would be spending the entire day participating in an exhausting, physical activity to celebrate.

Taking to Instagram stories, Giovanni duped Rose into thinking she might be about to receive an exciting birthday gift, writes The Mirror.

Filming them both in the back of a car, Giovanni said: “So today is your birthday. Happy birthday.”

A beaming Rose then gushed: “Thank you” – with Giovanni repeating: “Happy Birthday” and Rose again gushing: “Thank you.”

Smiling himself, Giovanni then said: “We’re going to celebrate today.”

Looking excited, Rose then asked: “How?”

And looking serious, Giovanni said: “Quick step. You happy? You happy?”

A look of mild despair clouded over Rose’s expression as Giovanni’s suggestion sank in, but she offered a meek: “Yeah.”

Giovanni then said: “All day quick step” – prompting Rose to exclaim: “All day?”

Giovanni confirmed they would indeed be rehearsing the quick step for hours to come and again said: “Happy Birthday Rose.”

Looking glum, Rose said: “Thank you.”

Giovanni’s cheeky antics come after he shocked BBC viewers on Strictly spin off show It Takes Two when he seemed to drop the f-bomb on the live show.

Another asked: "Did Giovanni just say ‘f**k sake’? #ItTakesTwo #Strictly."

While one utterly thrilled fan tweeted: "I am LOVING that @pernicegiovann1 just dropped the F Bomb with @Rylan and no one noticed!! What a Don! Gio and Rose rock! #Strictly #ITT."

On Saturday night, Giovanni and Rose wowed Strictly fans when they performed a silent dance – giving viewers an insight into how the deaf soap actress hears the world while she is doing her routine.

The pair described the performance as “A moment that will remain forever in my heart” – while Giovanni branded Rose his “role model” in a gushing Instagram tribute to her following their breathtaking performance.

Earlier this month, Rose and Giovanni became the bookies favourites to win the 2021 competition.

Betfair's spokesperson Sam Rosbottom backed the pair, saying: "Rose Ayling-Ellis has seen her odds shortened further from 2/5 to 3/10 to win after yet another impressive showing.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday night at 6:35pm.
