Strictly's Giovanni Pernice announces 'big news' inspired by Rose

Strictly Come Dancing's Giovanni Pernice has announced 'big news' as he confirmed part of his next solo tour will be available with British Sign Language (BSL) signed performances.

Giovanni and his dance partner Rose Ayling-Ellis defeated Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite and his partner Johannes Radebe in the weekend's closely-fought grand final.

During the live final - which went ahead without contestant AJ Odudu, who pulled out on Friday due to an ankle injury - both couples performed three dances.

Both couples ended up with matching scores from the judges, with both receiving a perfect 40 for their revisited favourite dances and their showdances.

However, the panel's marks did not count towards the final result, which was solely down to the public vote.

Rose's win made history as she became BBC One show's first deaf champion.

And after being inspired by Rose, Giovanni announced he would have a BSL interpreter at some of his shows.

According to BirminghamLive, the post from Giovanni's Instagram account said: “Big news! BSL signed performances. We are delighted to announce that we are able to offer signed performances with a BSL interpreter for the following shows.”

  • Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow - April 5
  • Bridgewater Hall, Manchester - April 8
  • Beck Theatre, Hayes - May 14

Giovanni has previously spoken about the impact Rose has had on his life.

Earlier this month he said: "You have given me thousands of reasons to be proud of you. The way you inspire me and always cheer me up, I am really grateful to have you in my life."
