Strictly's Giovanni Pernice admits he could be axed from show this year

Giovanni Pernice has admitted that there is a possibility he could be axed from Strictly Come Dancing this year.

The professional dancer, 29, said that his appearance on the BBC dancing show was not set in stone and he still wasn't sure whether he would be taking part.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning today, he said: "We don't know yet. We're waiting for the phone call in February or March.

"I would love to do it again, obviously. But fingers crossed!"

Phil asked: "But you got into the final twice, didn't you?"

"Three times," Giovanni corrected. "So hopefully one day it will happen [for] me..."

Holly remarked: "I was surprised you weren't in the final this year. I felt Michelle [Visage] went out way too soon."

"Something happened with Vogue," Giovanni replied. "We tried to put something different, something that we hadn't seen before and then it didn't work in the sense of votes."

Holly remarked that it was a "shame" while Giovanni said that they had wanted to "challenge themselves".

Giovanni, who is currently promoting his own personal tour This Is Me, was asked who would make the perfect celeb dance partner.

When he said he didn't know, Phil pointed at Holly - who revealed that everyone was asking in her ear whether she was waiting for him to say her name.

"Yes!" she replied laughing.

"I keep telling you you have to do the show," Giovanni retorted.

"I know," Holly said. "You know I love the show, I'm a massive fan."

As she worried about her moves, Phil insisted that she "can dance" and said that Holly would be "great on there".

A flushed Holly thanked Phil as she swiftly changed the subject.

Could we see Holly on the show this year?
