Strictly's Fleur East had 'greatest' dance on BBC show in years, says Ed Balls

Ed Balls said he believes Fleur East could win Strictly Come Dancing, with the former contestant saying that she's performed one of the the best routines the show has seen in years.

Fleur has had a rollercoaster time on the show after topping the leaderboard in some weeks and facing the dreaded dance off multiple times.

After narrowly escaping being sent home last week, at this Saturday's final, Fleur, 35, and her dance partner Vito Coppola, 30 - will compete for the Glitterball trophy.

They will face tough competition from Hamza Yassin, 32, and his dance partner Jowita Przystał, 28. The other finalists are Helen Skelton, 39, and her partner Gorka Márquez, 32, as well as Molly Rainford, 22, and her partner Carlos Gu, 28.

Ahead of the live grand final, the odds of each contestants was feverishly discussed on Friday's Good Morning Britain with former Strictly star Ed, who competed on Strictly in 2016, giving his inside take.

Ed said: "You can win it on the night if you deliver a great dance". The presenter went on to praise singer Fleur, ahead of her competing for in the final tomorrow.

He praised her Couples' Choice routine in Blackpool, which had received a perfect score of 40 from the judges. Fleur and Vito had performed to a Destiny's Child medley.

"Let's be honest, [her] Destiny's Child tribute was possibly the greatest dance, not just of this year, but for some years," he commented about the performance.

Discussing the possibility of her winning the show, Ed said: "I think she can do it". He however added: "Personally, I think Hamza is gonna do it but I think Fleur has got a chance".

The segment also saw Richard Arnold, 53 - who did Strictly in 2012 - share his thoughts. He named Hamza as a contender but said that he had "loved Fleur's journey".

Ed had competed on Strictly in 2016. He was partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones, now 33, on the BBC show and the pair placed sixth in the competition.

Richard had taken part a few years earlier in 2012. He had been partnered with Erin Boag, now 47, in the competition and the pair placed ninth in the dance contest that year.
