Strictly's Emma Weymouth and Aljaz Skorjanec get Downton Abbey seal of approval

They’re performing the Downton Abbey theme tune as part of Movie Week.

And Strictly stars Vicountess Emma Weymouth and Aljaz Skorjanec have now got the seal of approval from....Mrs Hughes herself.

Downton actress Phyllis Logan, who is a massive Strictly fan, surprised the couple with a top-secret visit as they prepared for their foxtrot

A source said: “It provided a much-needed boost ahead of this weekend’s competition.”

Aljaz said both he and partner Emma got emotional when they first heard the famous Downton music.

“It’s beautiful music – the theme tune to Downton Abbey – it’s so powerful,” says Alijaz. “We actually cried when we heard it for the first time.”

Emma adds: “For our Foxtrot, I’m playing a chambermaid who finds herself dancing an intimate love story in the Great Hall before the lanterns go out. If we get it right, it will hopefully melt people’s hearts.”

Meanwhile, the Strictly Come Dancing professionals will kick off the show’s Movie Week with a routine inspired by Disney Pixar’s hit superhero animation The Incredibles.

Anton Du Beke, Katya Jones, Janette Manrara and AJ Pritchard suit up in the film’s famous red skin-tight suits for the routine.

Fan favourite Du Beke is Mr Incredible while Jones takes on the role of Elastigirl, the super-stretchy matriarch.

Pritchard stars as Dash, their superfast eldest son while Manrara is Violet, their daughter who was born with the ability to turn invisible and create force fields.

The group dance will start Saturday’s episode of the hit BBC One show, a week after Olympic rower James Cracknell became the first star to crash out of the competition.

Movie Week will see the celebrities dance to famous film songs.

Mike Bushell will channel Hollywood heartthrob Channing Tatum as he dances to The Weather Girls’ classic 1982 hit It’s Raining Men, which was used in Magic Mike, a film about male strippers.

Songs from films including Moana, Aladdin, Austin Powers and Batman Forever will also be used during the episode.
