Strictly's Dianne Buswell reveals dad has finished chemotherapy

Australian professional dancer Dianne Buswell has shared her joy after her dad Mark completed his six-month course of chemotherapy treatment.

Last November the Strictly Come Dancing star, 34, revealed that her dad had begun the gruelling treatment for an unspecified type of cancer.

On Thursday, she took to Instagram to share a montage of him in hospital along with a clip of the special moment when he finally got to ring the bell to signify the end of this difficult period.

“To my daddy you did it 6 months later and 12 rounds done,” Buswell began her lengthy accompanying caption.

“I am so so PROUD of you it’s been a tough road but you have always done it with a smile and a thumbs up. I know you were scared and I know it was not easy but you have done it.”

UK-based Buswell was able to jet back to her native Oz last year to spend some time with her family, but lamented not being able to share this moment with her dad.

“I wish so much I could be there right now and just cuddle you,” she penned. “Your [SIC] my hero and you have made me realise we all have so much more strength then we think.

“And to my beautiful mum who has not left your side and been the best support system ever thank you. Us kids are so lucky to have you both we love you so much.”

She concluded her post by vowing to arrange for both of her parents to come and visit her in the UK, writing: “Now we need to book that trip in back to UK for the both of you.”

Buswell’s Strictly co-stars were quick to offer their congratulations and well wishes in the comments section.

“Mark you have been a warrior and Gorji @diannebuswell absolutely a strong rock,” wrote fellow professional dancer Vito Coppola.

“We cannot wait to celebrate all together,” he continued, along with a party emoji. “Eating a good and biiiig pizza.”

“This made my smile,” he concluded.

Former contestants Stacey Dooley, Ellie Simmonds and Helen Skelton also shared their support with clapping and red love-heart emojis.
