Danny John-Jules has hit back at reports he sparked a “toxic feud” backstage on Strictly Come Dancing as he shared a video of himself hugging his fellow dancers.
John-Jules was accused of continuing his alleged feud with professional partner Amy Dowden – who he was previously accused of “bullying” – when they reunited this week. It was also claimed that “everybody ignored him”.
But the Red Dwarf actor bit back with a 90-second video of him hanging out backstage with Aljaz Skorjanec, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova and Johannes Radebe.
In the video, John-Jules gives fans a glimpse at the “reunion of the ab-fab crew” which also features Karen Clifton and Charles Venn.
John-Jules – who was eliminated after his Samba in week eight – will return to the BBC ballroom this weekend as part of the final group dance.
Reports in The Sun claimed that the actor had been “vocal to members of production that Dowden had ‘turned him over’”. It was also claimed that he “blamed her for not being booked on the live tour”.
A source said: “Danny has been really angry. He turned up and was ignored practically by everyone and was furious with Amy. Danny has been quite vocal that he thinks Amy has deliberately tried to damage his reputation.”
Earlier in the series, John-Jules had allegedly left Dowden “in tears” after “swearing” at her. He later tweeted that “his conscience was clear” while the BBC shut down claims.
They said that the duo had a “small disagreement in the dance studio” but it was soon resolved.
But questions were raised over their relationship when John-Jules failed to show up for his exit interview on It Takes Two, leaving Dowden to relive their Strictly journey alone.
This weekend, Joe Sugg, Ashley Roberts, Faye Tozer and Stacey Dooley will perform three dances in a bid to lift the glitterball trophy.
