Strictly's Dan Walker vows to wow wife on 25th anniversary after not dancing at own wedding

Strictly Come Dancing’s Dan Walker didn’t dance at his wedding – but says he’ll sweep his wife off her feet on their 25th.

The BBC Breakfast presenter married his university sweetheart Sarah in 2001.

But Dan, 44, admitted: “I didn’t dance at my own wedding. I did distraction tactics, messing around on the side. I loved the idea of dancing but it felt beyond me. I’m 6ft 6in, I’ve always been tall and awkward.

“The easiest way to avoid dancing was to be the joker on the sidelines.”

But now he’s been shown the ropes by Strictly partner Nadiya Bychkova, Dan is determined to put things right with his wife.

He said: “It’s always been our plan to have a party on our 25th anniversary, so I’d love us to learn a dance together.”

Dan faced a much tougher anniversary last Saturday.

It emerged yesterday he was consoled by Nadiya when he broke down 10 years to the day that his Welsh football legend pal Gary Speed took his own life.

But the pair spent this week training hard for last night’s routine.

And Dan wasn’t just concentrating on his footwork.

He said on Instagram : “I need to work on my tango face.”
