Dan, 44, who is competiting with Nadiya Bychkova on the BBC dance show, donned guyliner for his powerful paso Doble to Giant by Rag 'n' Bone Man and Calvin Harris, but he declined the muscle suit.

He wrote: "’I've been asked if I want to wear a muscle suit for tonight’s dance… I declined."

And he jokingly added: "#YouGetWhatMumGaveMe."

Radio One star Chris Stark asked him: "Is this actually a thing? I’m shooketh. Who has been wearing the muscle suit!?"

And his BBC colleague Mike Bushell, who competed in Strictly in 2019, told him: "Perfect for movie week maybe though."

"It's how robocop looks naked," commented another follower.

A fourth said: "That looks like one of those models that you can take apart and it shows all the internal organs and things under it.

"Too funny. Look like an extra for a Marvel film."

While another remarked: "That is truly terrifying!"

And another tweeted: "I'm never unseeing that! Even when you are in a suit sat on the BBC sofa that is popping up in my mind."

Others fan said they were 'shocked' by the suit.

"As if this even exists. I'm shocked," said one.

"But also very curious as to who has worn this in the past. Not even in Strictly, but throughout the entertainment industry. Film stars, pop stars."

"Lol can't believe you were offered that!!!! 'Au naturel' is always best," another gasped.

Other viewers were mesmerised by his guyliner as he adopted a gladiatorial look.

One told him: "Can I just say on last night's performance, 1. You were awesome and 2. I haven't seen guyliner like that since the early 90s!

"You were rocking the #guyliner last night for your Pasa."

"Looking good in guyliner!" said another.
