Strictly's Dan Walker leaves fans in tears with touching tribute to ‘amazing’ wife Sarah

Strictly fans loved Dan Walker's "adorable" tribute to his wife Sarah after dancing to her favourite song.

Saturday's show saw the BBC Breakfast host, 44, performing a Viennese waltz to She’s Always A Woman by Billy Joel.

It earned the star and partner Nadiya Bychkova 28 points – his highest score of the series yet.

Walker, who has three children with his wife, used his post-performance interview to address her directly in the studio audience.

He said: “I’m going to gush over her for a moment because she’s one of those people that the more you know her, the more you love her, and I’ve known her and loved her for over half my life.”

The camera then panned to Sarah, with Walker adding: “There she is. She’s absolutely amazing. She is such a special person and I love her to bits.

“I hope she enjoyed that because we really loved that.”

Viewers online praised the presenter for his comments, describing them as “sweet” and “adorable”.

Phillippa Mitchell said on Twitter: "You got all my votes, beautiful dance and what a lovely, kind guy you are!"

Jennie Godfrey said: "I honestly don’t know what it is with me and Strictly Come Dancing these days. I end up in tears every week, this week at blumin’ Dan Walker and his wife."

Dr Hillary Jane told him: "Adorable. You are sensational x."

And Charlotte wrote: "Dan, you are SO sweet. All of your family are so adorable & beautiful, it was so nice to see them.

Following Dan and Nadiya's performance, lead judge Shirley Ballas said the star was “extremely consistent, which is a good thing” but urged him to believe in himself more, while Craig Revel Horwood said he lacked “flow” but praised his overall style.
