Strictly's Dan Walker gets good news ahead of quarter-final as Craig Revel Horwood shares reason he gets votes

Strictly Come Dancing star Dan Walker may have been dealt some good news ahead of Saturday's show.

The BBC Breakfast host and professional partner Nadiya Bychkova will compete in the quarter-finals of the dance contest.

The pair sailed through to the next stage following their rumba, to Desperado by Eagles.

Dan, 44, was, however, forced to hit out following confirmation they had made it through to another week.

He tweeted on Sunday night: "Thank you to everyone who is sending lovely messages & enjoying us having fun on #Strictly and to the few who say…'just leave', 'aren’t you ashamed?', 'you’re a disgrace', 'It’s a fix' (which I don’t get) or 'who is voting for them?' IT’S A TV SHOW!"

And he added with a crying with laughter emoji: "See you in the 1/4 finals."

According to the latest odds from BetVictor, Dan is 22/1 to win the entire competition ahead of the final on December 18.

He comes above Rhys, whose chances of winning the Glitterball trophy have dropped down to 66/1 and may well the be next celebrity to leave the competition.

However, Coral Bookmakers have Dan at 25/1 to win but also odds-on favourite at 8/11 to be eliminated this weekend.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom has also said: "Despite his critics, Dan Walker continues to prove the doubters wrong by avoiding the dreaded bottom two on Strictly.

"However, he is the 5/6 favourite to get the boot in this weekend’s quarter-final.

"At the other end of the dance floor, Rose Ayling-Ellis remains the strong 1/5 favourite to waltz her way to the Strictly crown this year."

The news comes after Craig Revel Horwood shared his reason for Dan getting the votes.

The Strictly judge told Fubar Radio : "I just don’t know what the outcome's going to be. I love Rose, I love AJ, I love John and Johannes."

He laughed as he added: “I even love Dan," before adding: "I know that Dan is loved by every housewife in the UK.

"He has the full support of them which is fantastic and that’s why the audience gets 50 per cent of the vote."
