Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood takes swipe at Dan Walker ahead of BBC quarter-final

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood made a slight swipe at contestant Dan Walker, during an interview on ITV's Lorraine on Friday.

The judge mocked BBC Breakfast host Dan, as he compared him to the other remaining stars on the show.

With just five couples remaining in the quarter-final of the dancing series, Craig rated how well they were doing - and he wasn't too nice about Dan.

Amid the BBC show being hit with 'fix claims' over the recent exits, as well as the judges being accused of scoring badly, Craig said of the remaining five stars: "Amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing, Dan."

As host Lorraine Kelly laughed before jokingly telling him off, Craig then admitted he quite liked Dan and his journey on the show.

He said: "I love him, look I love him. He is great and I love someone that tries. He represents a lot of the men in this country.

"If that inspires people to get up and want to dance then great."

Craig also opened up about his battle with coronavirus, after having to miss Strictly recently after testing positive for the virus last month.

For the first time in 17 years, Craig had to pull out of the BBC dancing show to isolate with him replaced on the panel.

He admitted he isn't 100 percent back to normal, detailing: "It's taken my energy I've got to say. I am still feeling a bit coldy.

"I lost my sense of taste and smell. It was no more than really a cold, so I was one of the lucky ones."

Meanwhile, Craig exclusively spoke to The Mirror and confessed he understood why the public voted to save Dan, who is partnered with pro Nadiya Bychkova.

But Craig named him as "one of the weaker dancers" in the show, and said: "You're more involved in the celebrity's story [when you're watching] at home.

"Whereas at work I'm not as influenced by the VTs or anything, because I'm just there to judge that 1min 30 dance and not the actual story that surrounds it. Whereas when I was sat at home, you do.

"And then I see why people vote for people like Dan. It's interesting, isn't it? Because he's probably one of the weaker dancers out of everyone that is left in this programme but you still feel for him.

"So you sort of invest in that. It's a totally different sort of experience so I understand now why the audience are given 50% of the vote.

"I'm just there to uphold and wave the dance flag professionally, but then the people at home, they've invested in the human being themself and their story and journey throughout it.

"So I do think it does sway them and I think it's why it's good having the audience having 50% of the power."

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
