Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood replaced by Oscar nominee on this weekend's show

A well-known movie star will be stepping in for Craig Revel Horwood on Strictly Come Dancing this weekend after the judge tested positive for coronavirus, the BBC has revealed.

Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo will join Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas for the show's musicals week on November 20 and 21 as Craig Revel Horwood self-isolates, Birmingham Live reports.

The Grammy and Tony award winner said: “I’m so delighted to be joining the Strictly judging panel for Musicals Week.

"Musicals have a unique place in my heart, it’s such a special way of connecting all art and making it one.

"I’m excited to bring my experience to the show and I can’t wait to see what the couples have in store this weekend.”

The show airs this Saturday at 6:35pm on BBC One.

At the start of Monday evening's It Takes Two on BBC Two, host Rylan wished Craig Revel Horwood a speedy recovery, saying: "We are sending you all our love and we can't wait to see you really soon."

A Strictly spokesperson said: "Craig Revel Horwood has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating following the latest government guidelines.

"While Craig will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend, all being well he will return the following week."
